HOW WE WIN
Step 1 - Make a Plan
Once you’ve committed to “making a plan” pledge to Vote Like A Black Feminist this election cycle.
Encourage someone else to register to vote.
Decide when to vote.
VOTE.
Step 2 - Vote down ballot
Ballots are more than just candidates; they are an opportunity to mobilize around issue areas that impact our lives.
Research what’s on the ballot locally and statewide.
Identify candidates, ballot initiatives, measures, or referendums that align with your values.
If no candidates align with your values, join a local coalition or effort to mobilize around an issue.
Ultimately, choose options that lead Black people toward liberation.
Step 3 - squad up
Research shows that when Black women turn out to vote, the entire Black community follows. Let’s recognize our power and work together to mobilize our community into action.
Get together with a group of friends to catch up and check in with each other.
Discuss how everyone is doing, including in this political climate.
Talk about ways to support each other and the community, considering your capacity.
Consider hosting a kickback, outing, or gathering to discuss your role in electoral politics, as the personal is political.
Step 4 - apply pressure
The days of Black women being everyone's mule are over. We are applying the necessary pressure to ensure we not only get the representation we deserve but also take what we deserve to live lives where we can fully thrive in peace.
Engage in discussions about community change.
Attend a community meeting.
Join a local committee or board.
Participate in an event or action.
